Trends in ET
ASEE collects data from engineering technology schools, programs, and departments that have ABET accreditation and award a bachelor’s degree. This month’s databyte looks at bachelor’s degrees awarded by ET discipline. Based on data provided to ASEE, overall graduation rates at ET schools remained almost unchanged from 2007 to 2012, but numbers of degrees awarded among ET disciplines fluctuated greatly, with some growing and some shrinking. Aerospace engineering technology grew the most, with bachelor’s degrees rising by 239 percent since 2007. However, all that growth is attributed to one program, which did not report in 2007 but did in 2012. Among the largest decliners, architectural engineering technology declined by 51 percent and electrical/electronics engineering technology declined by 34 percent.
